Running, Jazz, Coffee & Cake
Oh dear. We were thinking of you today, hoping it was going okay...
Hi Stuart,This is not a race I would have advised you do. Some - with easier paths and runnable stuff - yes, they would suit your power to weight advantage etc. However, well you would have found out why it would or wouldn't suit you. I kept away this year (though soundly tempted, as I like the free beers at the end) as I didn't want to jigger my injury. Because it IS TOUGH AS HELL and then some. And it often feels like everyone else went an easier route while you (one) stumbled like a fool across the worst tussocky bit. Bear in mind today was about as good as the weather is likely to get (unless you prefer drizzle.) If I had known you were going I'd a gone along just for the fun! I remember asking Paul Thompson of Helensburgh how he enjoyed it first time he tried it. As a road runner he would always finish ahead of me but at the 2 Brews he was considerably behind. He said it was the worst 3(+)hrs of his life!
p.s. hope when you recover enough you will tell us the story of what happened!
